Hurricane Update: Homeschool Resource Center and HEAT Information

I pray you all are safe after our visit from Milton. Between prepping and now post-storm clean up, we are all exhausted.

We have families with various severity of challenges and it will take some time to get things in order.

it is crazy out there and we want our HEAT families safe! All HEAT activities are canceled for Monday, October 14th.

The HRC will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, with classes resuming on Thursday. Hopefully, by Thursday, most will have electricity, traffic lights will be operational, water will recede, and the gas situation will be resolved.

Individual sports will be in touch regarding their schedules for the week.

If you made it through the storm easily, this is a great opportunity to get a taste of traditional homeschooling. Look up unit studies on hurricanes, floods, electric grids, water treatment facilities, dam control, emergency traffic etiquette (it’s a 4-way stop people), etc. Many HEAT families would love assistance with post-storm clean up. We have a thread going on Facebook in the HEAT page if you have a need or can help.

Missed classes are not ideal but we will make every effort to add on weeks where possible, extend the length of classes, etc. There are just some things we can’t control.

Please check your email and the website to stay informed. Things like rescheduling and refunds (where required) will happen but please be patient. Stay safe and please pray for our community!
